When economic times are tough, like they are right now, it can be difficult to afford to live a comfortable life. You have probably heard it before, that having one’s bachelor degee will earn you an extra $1,000,000 during your lifetime, as opposed to just having your high school diploma. Well, thankfully president Obama is reaching out to single parents by increasing funding to single parent scholarships and grants.
Single parent scholarships for moms and dads are currently available in every state across our nation, being offered by government and private sources more than ever before. When Obama took office back in 2008, one of the first things he did was increase the Federal Pell Grant to more than $5000. The Pell Grant is free money for single moms and single dads, it never has to be paid back, and can be used for a variety of things related to your education, such as tuition, books, childcare, housing, transportation, and even groceries.
In addition to the Pell Grant, there are countless other single parent scholarships available, such as the TEACH scholarships and SMARTS grant, worth another $8000 to $9000 towards school. Applying for scholarships is easier than ever too, with many free online services that will guide you through the process. There are also free websites that can, with just some basic personal information, show you a list of all the scholarships and grants you are eligible to apply to receive. You have nothing to lose and a brighter, more wealthy future to gain.
