Totally different from any other parenting book I have read. Finally, a glimpse into a teens life from a teen perspective. It was well received when I gave two copies (one for my friend the parent and one for her teenager) as gifts. Anyone who is around teens should read this book to understand them better.

I bought this book for myself, but plan to give it to my daughter who is growing up too quickly. This book is great because it tells the story from both sides of the coin, in a way that can be easily understood by all parties involved.

When you are working so many hours outside of the home, you can feel out of touch with your teen. This book provided some great ways to dialogue with my daughter. Vanessa Van Petten’s personal experience and practical tips were really helpful. She was able to synthesize her extensive research into succinct and helpful stories for us to share and discuss. I laughed out loud at some of her interviews while with others I could have sworn she was talking about the situation with my own daughter.

I have never enjoyed reading a book as much as Vanessa Van Patten’s “You’re Grounded”. Her writing keeps you intrigued throughout it’s entirety and I can’t wait to read/buy her next masterpiece! I feel fortunate to have a copy of this book and I encourage all and any, especially those trying to understand teenagers and their ways, to read this book and any others of this author. This was extremely helpful advice as a teacher. Thank you Vanessa!
